None of Charles Manson’s sons or relatives has stepped forward to claim his remains. This may force the state to cremate his body after 10 days.
Manson was the 83-year-old infamous cult leader who ordered his followers to commit several murders in August, 1969. He was serving a life sentence at the Corcoran State Prison before his death on Sunday.
Almost nothing is known about his biological children. He had been incarcerated with several of his cult followers since 1971 and no one has ever stepped forward to identify with him. It is however reported that he had three biological sons:
- Charles Manson Jr.
- Charles Luther
- Valentine Michael Brunner
None of Manson Children Anything to Do with Him
Charles Manson married Rosalie Willis in 1955 and subsequently fathered Charles Manson Jr. who was born in 1956. The infamous prisoner did not know his son because Willis was three months pregnant when Manson was incarcerated for auto theft and probation violation. Willis eventually went on to remarry after giving birth and waiting for her incarcerated husband for so long.
To cover the stigma of whom his notorious father was, Charles Manson Jr. changed his name to Jay White. He became married and gave birth to a son, Jason Freeman – Charles Manson’s grandson. But White could still not live with the fact that his unknown father was serving a life sentence for several murders. He shot and killed himself on June 29, 1993 in Colorado.
But Manson still had another son with Leona Steven who was a prostitute. They married in 1958 when he was briefly released from prison. Steven became pregnant and gave birth to Charles Luther but in 1960, Manson was incarcerated again for violation. Till date, no one knows anything about Charles Luther and it is surprising how he has successfully hidden himself.
Manson yet had a third son from cult follower Mary Brunner in 1967 when he consolidated his cult leadership. Raised by maternal grandparents and now married, Michael Brunner said he never knows who his father is and doesn’t want to be associated with Manson.
Only Known Grandson Tried Unsuccessfully To Meet With Manson
Only Charles Manson Junior’s son, Jason Freeman, stepped forward to admit his kinship with the notorious Manson. He said he tried all his best to see his grandfather in prison but was never successful.
“It was hard because I didn’t get to see my grandfather before he passed, and that’s something I’ve been working really hard at during this last year,” Freeman said.
It is not known whether Freeman would collect his grandfather’s corpse. If he does not, the state will cremate him in the next few days. Manson’s body will remain at the Corcoran State Prison until this is done.
