Douglas County Jail Implements New Visitation Schedule

Douglas County Jail in Roseburg Oregon has changed its visitation hours in accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards. We have the new visitation schedule for you here.

Passed in 2003, PREA seeks to reduce, and possibly, eliminate instances of prison rape through a “zero-tolerance” policy, research and information gathering.

Below is the new visitation schedule for Douglas County Jail, which took effect on September 25:

According to the sheriff’s office, prisoners need to advise those who wish to visit them of the new visitation schedule. Corrections officers will not give details about their classification status or visiting times to prison loved ones.

Video Visitation: Another Way to Connect with Inmates

Another way for prison loved ones to connect with inmates is through video visitation.

Douglas County Jail has a video visitation unit on the third floor lobby of the Justice Building. This is available:

  • Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm
  • Closed on holidays

How to Register for Video Visitation at Douglas County Jail

Prison loved ones can schedule and conduct video visits from the comfort of their own homes through the following:

  1. Use of any computer with a webcam from any location. Users just have to access this site: http://www.icsvideovisit.com/douglasor. The site details the step-by-step process on how to visit from home and from the jail lobby.
  2. Use of a smartphone application called “ICS Mobile.”

Price: $8.99
 Available for Android phones and devices, the ICS Mobile app provides a convenient means of communication between prisoners and their prison loved ones. It allows users to make video visitation to the prison from home or anywhere where there is a WiFi or cellular data service. An app compatible with Apple devices is now in the production stage.
