Former NFL player Rae Carruth is scheduled to be released from prison on October 22, 2018. Carruth will have served 19 years in prison by then for conspiring to kill his pregnant baby’s mama, Cherica Adams, in 1999.
Adams was shot four times by a gunman named Watkins who confessed in court that he had been hired by Carruth to kill his girlfriend. Adams died a month after the shooting and her unborn baby arrived 10 weeks prematurely through an agonized birth.
The Memory of Cherica Adams Lives on in Rae Carruth’s Son
The baby was named Chancellor Lee Adams. She was raised entirely by her grandmother, Saundra Adams, whose only biological child was the slain Cherica.
Chancellor Lee suffers from celebral palsy and permanent brain damage due to his traumatic birth.
His mother, Cherica, died as a result of the traumatic delivery.

But Chancellor Lee is now 18 years old – November 16, and will be celebrating the event in the absence of his father by riding a hayride and petting animals in the petting zoo.
Then he will consume his birthday cake filled with his favorite strawberry mousse.
His father Rae Carruth had never been there for him in any of his past birthdays. But with his next birthday coming up November 16 next year and Carruth scheduled for release October 22, it is possible they meet again.
In fact, Saundra Adams, Chancellor Lee’s doting grandmother has promised they will be at the prison gates to welcome Carruth when he finally walks out of prison.
Adams says she has forgiven Carruth a long time ago for killing her only child, and has even been giving talks at prisons where she talks about hope and forgiveness.

When Cherica became pregnant and would not abort it, the former Carolina Panther player hired an assassin to take her down. But after being shot four times, the pregnant Cherica was able to call 911 and identified her killers.
