With recent death of cult leader Charles Manson, it’s time to take remember his “family’s” victims. Today is a good day to do our part to keep his victims’ names alive.
Manson Family Victims: The Ones You Don’t Know About
In 1969, Manson directed his group, also known as The Manson Family, to start a race war known as Helter Skelter. This would be done by committing shocking murders that would be blamed on the Black Panthers, according to PRN Senior Editor Kiesha Joseph.
When asked why so many people say she’s a fan of Charles Manson, she’s almost overjoyed and annoyed all at the same time.
Yes. I am what some call a “fan” of Charles Manson. But, in actuality, I don’t admire him. It’s just interesting to study sick human beings like him. Maybe somewhere inside, I think I can figure out what made the likes of Jeffrey Dahmer, Richard Ramirez, Aileen Wuornos and other serial killers turn out so “bad.”
I remember being so obsessed with Charles Manson it freaked my dad out. He would throw Helter Skelter away. I’d save up my little change, go to the mall, and buy it again. I read and watched everything ever produced about this guy.
For some reason, I thought he’d have a revelation for us at the end.
But, one thing I will tell you is this… There were more victims than the rich celebrities that everyone talks about. Shorty and others were also killed by Manson’s Family. He even killed one person with his own hands.
The Manson Family Victims: These Are Just the Famous Ones
While the case is well-known to many, the Manson Family victims’ names have been easily forgotten over the years. These are the famous victims who were murdered during a 2-night killing spree orchestrated by Good Ole Charlie:
Manson Family Victim: Pregnant Actress Sharon Tate
Before her murder, Sharon Tate was former model turned film star who appeared in the 1966 film, Valley of the Dolls. The following year, she was in The Fearless Vampire Killers, which was directed by Roman Polanski, who later became her husband.
When Sharon Tate was murdered by members of the Manson Clan at 26, she was 8 ½ months pregnant with husband Roman’s son. She begged the killers to spare her unborn baby’s life.
Later, Doris Tate, the actress’ mother, became one of the biggest forces behind the development of victims’ rights in the State of California. She was also instrumental in a law that passed in 1982 that allows the testimony of family members of regarding losses in trials and parole hearings of their murderers.
Manson Family Victim: Celebrity Hair Stylist Jay Sebring
A hairdresser to Hollywood’s elite men, and Tate’s former boyfriend, Jay Serbing also begged the Manson killers to spare the life of Sharon’s unborn baby. He was 35 at the time. The high-profile hair stylist was then kicked in the face, shot and stabbed multiple times.
A native of Alabama, Jay was also a veteran of the Navy. He is known for transforming the industry of male hair care after he graduated from a Los Angeles beauty school.
Sebring was known for high profile clients like Steve McQueen, Warren Beatty, and Frank Sinatra. His company, Sebring International marketed hair care products, as well as franchised his New York and London salons.
Manson Family Victim: Voytek Frykowski & Coffee Heir Abigail Folger
This couple had gone to dinner with Sebring and Tate earlier on the night they all were killed. Voytek Frykowski, 32, was Polanski’s friend from Poland. He also had aspirations of becoming a screenwriter.
During an autopsy, it was found that Frykowski had been shot two times and stabbed over 50 times.
His girlfriend, Abigail Folger, was heir to the Folger coffee company. The 25-year-old got out of the house, but was later tackled in the front yard and was stabbed 28 times.
Ms. Folger died outside in the front yard of the home.
Manson Family Victim: Leno and Rosemary Labianca
This wealthy couple were the owners of a chain of Los Angeles, CA grocery stores. They were murdered the night after the Tate murders.
Yet, there were in no way connected to Sharon Tate, her husband or her friends.
Instead, the well-to-do couple was stabbed in their home for unrelated reasons. (Another long story Kiesha promises to share with us soon).
Manson chose the home. Tied the couple up. Then, ordered his “family,” to kill them.
A chrome-plated bayonet was just one of the weapons that was used. In 44-year-old Leno LaBianca’s abdomen, the word “war” was carved. He was stabbed at least 12 times.
