Why Are Authorities Keeping OJ Simpson’s Release Date a Big Secret?

Why is O.J. Simpson’s release date shrouded in mystery? That is the question everyone is asking at the moment. The Pro Football Hall of Famer has been granted parole. But, authorities aren’t saying when he’ll get out.

Why are the authorities not willing to reveal his release date? The answer is simpler than can be imagined.

O.J Simpson wants it that way. He doesn’t want anyone, especially the media to know when he walks out of prison.

He is currently incarcerated at Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada.

And prison authorities are concerned that his personal safety may be breached with a release date.

The prison facility has 18 release points. And one of them will be thrown open to make O.J. Simpson walk out. This means the nosy media has only 1 in 18 chances of spotting the famous prisoner when he walks out. TMZ quoted prison sources as being the ones to handle the famous convict’s release date and conditions for his eventual release.

The media has always courted the famous prisoner at every turn. But he is having none of that just yet. His safety within the prison facility is more important at the moment.

Immediately he was granted parole recently, authorities moved him to a protective wing of the prison. They are aware some other prisoners are serving life sentences at facility, and these may be intent on harming O.J Simpson since they have nothing more to lose.

“The inmates inside…they’re all felons, there are those that are in there for life, that really have nothing to lose,” said Brooke Keast, Nevada Department of Corrections spokesperson. “Now, to make a name of themselves, they may think of doing something, acting out against inmate Simpson. We just can’t have that.”

Meanwhile, O.J Simpson’s release date may trigger violence within the prison facility. And people could be injured if law enforcement chases prisoners. Prison officials say they don’t want to chase anybody. They don’t want the injuries a chase could produce.

O.J Simpson has spent almost nine years in prison. He was sentenced to prison in 2008. He was charged for kidnapping, armed robbery and assault with deadly weapon to make a total of 12 charges.
