It’s barely a week since Bill Cosby was sent to prison in the Pennsylvania State Correctional Institution Phoenix in Schwenksville. The relationship between the 81-year old and staff at the facility seems to be good and improving every day.
The prison employees have become his new friends. He is enjoying his phone privileges. In fact, the shamed comedian is speaking to his wife often.
Life Behind Bars for Bill Cosby
Cosby was sentenced to 3-10 years in prison for sexually assaulting an employee of a university in 2004. He has to serve at least three years in prison before he is eligible for possible parole.
He has not yet entered into the general prison population. According to Andrew Wyatt, Cosby’s representative, Cosby is escorted by a guide when he moves within the facility. He is blind, legally.
Inmate #NN7687 is allowed to visit the prison library and the prison yard as well as other facilities.
Cosby has not yet joined the general prison population. Therefore, he spends most of his time speaking with the staff of the correctional facility. According to Wyatt, Cosby is happy with the treatment he receives from the prison staff. They treat him well and with respect.
Responsible Living: The Sex Offender Treatment Program for Inmate #NN768
Because of his charges, Cosby is a sexual offender. He is required to go through an extensive therapy program. During the program, he undergoes an evaluation process. It determines the magnitude of the disgraced comedian’s treatment as a sexual predator.
The program Cosby has to go through is called Responsible Living. This is a treatment program for inmates that have been incarcerated for sexual offenses. The program has seven phases:
- Responsibility Taking
- Behavioral Techniques
- Emotional Well-being
- Victim Empathy
- Anger Management
- Sex Education
- Relapse Prevention
According to Amy Worden, the Corrections Press Secretary, during Cosby’s stay in prison he is allowed to purchase technology gadgets. The gadgets are the only possession inmates are allowed to have during their time in prison.
These gadgets will make it possible for him to access music, receive mail as well as access to some e-books. They include:
- A television
- A radio
- A tablet
Cosby’s Petition Denied by the Supreme Court
Cosby’s petition to have his dispute with Janice Dickinson, a former supermodel, reviewed was denied by the Supreme Court on the 1st of October.
The former model accused Cosby of raping her in 1982. Janice sued Cosby for defamation after his attorney said that she was lying. 40 additional women accused Cosby of assault.
