It is becoming a serious matter to solve… who should get Charles Manson’s body? Michael Channels, who was Manson’s pen pal, together with five other people are battling over the corpse in any way possible.
Michael Channels on Manson’s Body Remains
At the very moment, the Charlie’s body is preserved in a California morgue. Michael Channels insists he is the legal beneficiary of Manson’s property, which includes his dead body.
Therefore, Channels argues that he is to carry the remains home. This fight is still on at the Superior Court of California. The previous hearing was on January 8, 2018.
It is becoming something to worry about for the coroner since there is fear of the Manson’s body being placed in the wrong hands. The Kern County Coroner was asked to receive the body by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).
Originally, they thought it would be a simple task because they thought no one would claim Manson’s body.
Is the Fate of Manson’s Body in His Pen Pal’s Hands?
The case is becoming a weird matter as it may seems. No clear information is at hand on who is the rightful person to own the body. According to the minutes of the court hearing that was held on the 8th, the court decided that Micheal should file a new petition.
A new hearing was set for January 26, 2018. If Channels is successful this time around, he says he will cremate Manson’s body and pour the ashes into the desert.
Manson had spent 46 years behind bars. He died at the age of 83 due to natural causes late last year in November. His health started to deteriorate early January 2017 after the discovery of lesion in his intestines.
The famous prisoner needed surgery due to internal bleeding. But doctors deemed him too weak for surgery. Hence, he was sent back to prison.
The Legacy of Cult Leader Charles Manson
Manson’s followers killed nine people. This was under his instructions in the 1960’s. He was arrested and a death penalty was his original punishment. This was commuted to life in prison when California got rid of the death penalty some years later.
Charles Manson’s victims included celebrities, among them being actress Sharon Tate and Abigail Folger, heiress to the Folger Coffee empire.
This is the legacy the famous prisoner left behind.
