Fox executives have come up with an awesome idea for a new iteration of the hit TV series Prison Break. We have the details here.
Is a New Iteration of Prison Break Coming Soon?
Movie lovers may look forward to a new iteration of the series Prison Break again. This was revealed by Fox’s president of entertainment, Michael Thorn.
He gave the hint at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. The form and shape the new prison break movie will take remains foggy at the moment.
“We are developing a new iteration of Prison Break. It’s in very early stages of development, but we’r really excited about it. We’ll be happy to share when we have more. We definitely have one in development.”
Season 5: The Resurrection of Prison Break
The original series of Prison Break was for four seasons. It aired from 2005 to 2009. A fifth season, which consisted of nine episodes, ran early last year.
Season five was named Prison Break: Resurrection. It saw the return of some of the original cast members.
- Michael Scoffield
- Wentworth Miller
- Dominic Purcell
- Sarah Wayne Callies
- And others
Scoffield resurfaced in Yemen under an assumed name in the Prison Break series. His brother Purcell and their friends fought to make him return.
Concept & Direction for the New Prison Break Series Unknown
Right now, it is unclear whether the new Fox Prison Break iteration will bring back all the original star casts. It is also not known if it will be a continuation of the fifth season or some other spinoffs.
In what capacity the casts may return is also a subject for speculation. It may turn out to be a whole new story with a total cast of new characters. Thorn said:
“We just heard the pitch…a couple of weeks ago, an approach to the next chapter. But we don’t even have an outline for the pilot yet. I fully expect both brothers will be involved in the series, assuming that they’re all available. There’s a lot to figure out when you’re bringing back the cast of a show where they all have busy careers.”
Prison Break: Resurrection was one of the top five scripted shows rated for massive viewership for Fox in 2017. It amassed a total 4.2 million viewers.
One thing is certain: fans are eager to see a continuation of the original Prison Break story told in another way. With perhaps most of the original cast members intact.
