Unfortunately for the children of Charles Manson, there seems to be no hiding from the legacy of death and destruction that their father left behind. But, one son has done a good job of it.
Who are the Children of Charles Manson?
There are three boys that Charlie Manson actually claimed as his sons.
Son number one, Charles Manson, Jr has been seen in the press over the years.
The second son, Charles Luther Manson, chose to be in contact with his dad.
Yet, it turns out that baby number three, Valentine Michael Brunner, is not a prison child.
He has chosen to live a very different life than his father and mother in all regards.
Son #1: Charles Manson, Jr.
Charles Manson Junior, Charlies oldest son, changed his name to Jay White. He took his own life in 1993.
Born in 1956, he was the child of Rosalie Jean Willis and Manson. Willis was Manson’s first wife.
Son #2: Charles Luther Manson
Manson’s middle son, Charles Luther Manson is the child of Leona Rae Stevens, who was Manson’s second wife. He was also born in 1956.
Charles Luther changed his name to Matthew Roberts to escape the stigma of being one of Charles Manson’s kids. But, he stayed in contact with his father.
Son #3: Valentine Michael Brunner
Then came Charlies 3rd son, Valentine Michael Brunner. Born at Spahn Ranch, he is the child of Mary Brunner, Manson’s very first cult follower.
Michael was born in 1968. Brunner and Manson were never married. But, she was one of “Charlie’s Girls.” And, because she was the first one, the Manson Family called her Mother Mary.
Valentine Michael Brunner Appears Normal… for One of Charles Manson’s Kids
It appears that all the sons of Manson have struggled with the stigma of having one of the most notorious mass murderers of all time as a father. Yet, Michael Brunner seems to be normal and, well… good.
He has said that he feels no connection to his biological father. Being raised by his mother’s parents helped him grow up to be an emotionally stable and caring person.Member of the Family: My Story of Charles Manson, Life Inside His Cult, and the Darkness That Ended the Sixties
Michael is normal, thanks in no small part, to the people he considered to be his parents… his grandparents. Manson’s 3rd son said that thanks to his grandparents, he was able to grow up as a normal child.
While he did have regular contact with his mother, the relationship was strained. It had no similarity to a typical relationship between mothers and sons.
Michael himself has said that the two of them were more like siblings. And, for his part, was choosing to live a better life than both his parents.
