Prison Break started as a high-paced TV series where the main character, Michael Scofield, breaking into jail… specifically a high security prison.
Then, he breaks out of prison again with his brother Lincoln in tow.
But the “Prison Break” movie has now gone beyond this simple plot into a bizarre twist of conspiracies and frame-ups.
There is however one or two recurring features with Prison Break:
- Its main characters never stop breaking into jail and breaking out of prison
- Its main characters have a way of coming back to life after dying
How It All Started At the Fox River State Penitentiary
Michael’s brother Lincoln was incarcerated at the Fox River State Penitentiary. He was framed for murder by The Company. Michael, a skilled architect, obtains and tatoos the schematics of the prison all over his body.
He was resolved to breaking into jail to save his brother – hardly knowing he was carrying out The Company’s plans for grander plans.
Prison Break: Breaking INTO Jail
Michael succeeded in the face of hardened traitors and grand subversions:
- The main characters broke out of prison only to face another problem on the outside
- They had to break into another prison and break out again in a series of plots and counter-plots
They just had to break in and out of one jail or the other to satisfy some organization’s demands. And then certain things started coming up with the TV and viewers started asking questions…
Prison Breaks Brings Characters Back from the Dead
Sara Tancredi, Michael’s girlfriend, suddenly came to a quick death in season three. Her decapitated head was sent by The Company in a box to Lincoln.
This development galvanized both Lincoln and Michael to a frenzy of actions. But then Sara miraculously surfaces in Season Five, saying she’d been out of the picture for Michael’s own safety.
Among several other deaths, Michael also died in the final episode of Prison Break and Sara laid flowers on his grave. He had been suffering from bouts off terminal brain cancer. That was when the TV show was finally wrapped up in 2009.
But this year, Michael surfaced again in the show’s reboot – saying he’s been working underground for a rogue CIA agent in Yemen.
